Culinary delights in Canggu, Bali

This place is located on the southwestern coast of Bali and is a paradise for surfers, yogis as well as lovers of healthy or even especially with a focus on vegetarian cuisine.

Depending on how much hustle and bustle you would like to have, you can choose whether you want to stay close to the main streets or rather look for a retreat a bit outside. Also in terms of price, you will find a wide range of both accommodation and restaurants. Canggu is certainly a place where you can stay longer to enjoy the wide range of sports and dining options. I can only recommend to enjoy in the afternoon either a yoga class with a view towards the sunset or a walk on the beach at sunset.

Restaurant recommendations for Canggu

This place is great if you want to escape the air conditioning madness. When you cross the (heavily air-conditioned) interior, you come to a nicely designed garden with some tables.

Music plays in the garden and you can linger there for a while. I like to use this place, for example, to write my blog articles on the laptop - this place has become my absolute favorite, because I think it is literally a small "secret spot" - it is never crowded and a super pleasant atmosphere is created here, which invites you to linger. 😊

Directly on the busy main street is this nice cafe. It is simple but very tastefully decorated with wooden tables and lots of plants.

The staff here is especially nice, happy to chat and give you tips if you have questions. I can highly recommend the avocado toast there 😊

Green Guru Bowl Bar

Also on the main street in Canggu is the Bowl Bar. It is a very small place with only 2 tables. The different bowls have funny names and are served lovingly arranged in wooden bowls. The bowls are in my opinion relatively not so cheap, however, the portions are large and ample.

Warung Bamboo

When I first visited Bali 5 years ago, I met Santi, then an employee at a hotel where I stayed. We have stayed in touch over the years and have now met again in Bali. She suggested this place as a meeting place and I can only recommend it. It is located just outside the turbulent part of Canggus right on a busy road. When you enter the restaurant, however, you no longer notice the traffic. Out the back you see far and wide only rice fields and has complete peace.

In this restaurant were only locals eat. The dishes were good and the prices were very reasonable.

Rise & Shine Cafe

When I visited this place it was really busy. But especially when traveling alone, it's also nice sometimes to be able to sit down, sit back and watch what's going on around you. I ate a bowl with fruit and granola, which was really great.

However, the prices here are also considerable - I think that was the most expensive breakfast I had so far in Bali.

Cafe Almond

Perfect for breakfast after a yoga session at The Path Yoga (because it's right next door), is Cafe Almond. This cafe is very nicely decorated, not extremely air-conditioned, but very pleasant to stay in because of the open area with fans. There is a super rich variety of dishes there. I ate a veggie bowl there with various vegetables and eggs - a super breakfast after a strenuous yoga session.

TMO Cafe

After my visit to Samadi Supermarket on the way back towards the hotel, I passed this cafe and spontaneously decided to have breakfast there. I don't think I've ever had such a cheap breakfast at any other place in Canggu. For cafe, juice and an avocado bread with feta and egg I paid the equivalent of about 4€. The cafe is beautifully and stylishly decorated, you can feel the attention to detail.
